Sulley’s done at long last!

I started this a while back, just on the fly when I was inspired by the colors of some yarn I had. It just reminded me of Sulley (from Monsters Inc), who Reid adores. Using a 5″ tall plastic McDonald’s toy as my guide, I tried my hand at a freeform project.

I went on for a while, feeling like things were going well with it, and wanting to work the body & head as one piece. I was treating it as a huge sock, with the heel being the hunched part of his back. Well, that didn’t work and I had to leave it alone for a while to think on it.

After a few weeks I drug him back out of the bag, and rediscovered my inspiration. He’s far from perfect, but both the kids love him and he resembles Sulley enough for most people to recognize him. So, all in all I’d say he was a success! 🙂
